After Your Wedding

Most brides take their husband’s name. This is real important, use your maiden name on your honeymoon reservations for flights, cruises or out of the country. You will not have time to change your name until AFTER the wedding.

You will need to get your Certified Copy of your Wedding License before you can change your name. First you will go to your local Social Security Office and get a new Social Security card. After you receive your new SS card, you will then be able to change your name at the DMV/Passport.

Don’t forget when you change your name, you will want to update your personal info for the following:

• Ÿ  Checking/Savings Accounts
• Ÿ  Credit Cards
• Ÿ  Medical/Dental Records
• Ÿ  Auto Registration
• Ÿ  Insurance Policies
• Ÿ  Voter Registration
• Ÿ  Post Office
• Ÿ  Subscriptions/Memberships
• Ÿ  AND - The Credit Bureaus

You might find it easier to keep your Certified Copy of your Marriage License handy until all changes have been made.
